Freshly Prepared Food For Dogs (BARF)

Got this recipe from a friend - SK (recommended for Teddy in the past...)

BARFing* required giving dogs RAW Bones + Meats...
(*BARF : Bones And RAW Food)

To BARF successfully ~one need to learn and understand the proper nutrition for dog. This is easy as it only require some reading and research...

The alternative is to supplement the usual dry dog food ("kibble") with "freshly prepared foods".

This is a good way to learn about dog nutrition...

The basic method is to REDUCE the kibble by 30% or 50% and replace with "freshly prepared food".

-----------------------------

Basic Recipe:

(A) Buy good quality + hygenic mince meat - suggest to get lamb mince.

Boil a little water (just enough water to cover the mince meat)

Add the mince into the boiling water + cook for 10 minutes - (NO SALT or other seasoning).

After 10 minutes, will have cooked mince with a little gravy. ~* This will smell great!

(B) Boil carrots until soft. Once soft, either chop into very fine pieces or blend in blender.

(C) Chop leafy green vegetables, beet root, white cabbage and/or apples into very very fine pieces (or blend in a blender).

Mix all (A), (B) + (C) together - the proportion should be about 30% meat and 70% (B) + (C)...

If make enough to last a week - then suggest to divide + pack the Mixture into little plastic bags and freeze.

Just take out one bag at a time (preheat in micro or pan) ~ mix into kibble and feed.

-----------------------------

In addition to giving freshly prepared foods - can also add other supplement to their daily diet.

For example:
Monday: Add one tablespoon of yogurt
Tuesday: Add one tablespoon if cod liver oil
Wednesday: Add one raw egg (with shell) + half teaspoon of raw garlic (minced)
Thursday: Add one + half tablespoon of honey
Friday: Add 2 tablespoon of vitagen
Saturday: Add One tablespoon of Olive Oil
Sunday: Add One Teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar

To help with skin + coat: consider giving some primrose oil (maybe some Brewers Yeast) once or twice a week (adviced to check with Pet's Doctor if pet's health requires special attention)

*Note: can vary the recipe by using different meats and different vegetables + fruits... be creative...

Examples of meats: mince beef or mince chicken. Can also use pork products like pork liver or pork meat (but with pork - must remember to cook longer! ... pork products can have worm eggs that are only killed with prolonged cooking. Can also use chicken meat or chicken giblets, etc...

Examples of vegetables + fruits: Most types of green vegetables, bananas, papaya... different varieties of apples...

But REMEMBER to check the websites for what DOGS CANNOT EAT!
For examples: Do Not Feed - avocados or onions, grapes, broccoli, etc...

What is good and what to avoid for our beloved pets~!
